Photo and description

In the heart of Baguio, the summer capital of the Philippines, Burnham Park is located - the city's oldest public park, named after the American architect Daniel Burnham, who developed the Baguio development plan in the early 20th century. Several narrow paths around the park lead to John Hay Camp, a former US military base in the Philippines. The park itself overlooks Mount Kabuyao, the highest peak in the Baguio region. Its height is over 2 thousand meters. It houses several relay centers and a private observatory that once belonged to the United States. And at the very top of the mountain is a small community of farmers. From here, a wonderful view opens up over the entire city of Baguio and the Pangasinan province in the west. In especially clear weather, you can even see ships passing in the South China Sea.

In the center of Burnham Park is an artificial lake, where you can ride a boat rented here. In the southern part, there is a skateboarding area. To the east is the Melvin Jones Tribune and the football field, which is usually home to gala parades, concerts and political rallies. In the western part of the park, you can visit the Orchid Greenhouse with an amazing collection of plants and the Children's Playground with many different attractions. Here you can also rent bicycles, including tricycles for the smallest children. In the northern part of the park, in the middle of a wonderful rose garden, stands a monument to Daniel Burnham.
