The State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan is one of the largest and most famous art museums in Russia. Its collection includes painting, graphics, sculpture, theatrical and decorative and decorative and applied art of the classical Western European schools of the 16th-19th centuries, Russian art of the 16th-20th centuries, Soviet and Tatar fine and applied art; a unique collection of icons from the cathedrals of Sviyazhsk. Here you can see paintings by Durer and Rembrandt, Aivazovsky and Bryullov, Repin and Vrubel, as well as many other masters of painting not only from Russia, but also from Western Europe. The museum houses the country's largest collection of works by the artist N.I. Feshin.

Part of the collection is presented in the permanent exhibitions of the museum, acquaintance with the stock material is provided by the arrangement of temporary exhibitions. Branches of the museum: National Art Gallery "Khazine" in the Kazan Kremlin; an exhibition hall of ancient Russian art in the bell tower of the Epiphany Cathedral; Gallery of modern art, where collections of contemporary artists are presented, a photo gallery is open, master classes, creative meetings and interest clubs are held; Aesthetic education center with an exhibition hall, classroom, computer class. One of the favorite projects of the museum in Kazan and guests of the city is the International Festival of Improvisational Music "JAZZ in the Sandetsky Estate".
