Ollan is located 8 km from Faro and is in fact the largest fishing port in the Algarve. As a city, Ollan became known only in the 19th century. Until that time, it was a small fishing village with a small number of people, and the first mention of it dates back to 1328. Huts built of wood, straw and reeds served as housing for local residents. A little later, in the 17th century, a fortress was built in order to protect the inhabitants from the raid of pirates.

There are museums and churches in the historic part of the city. In the center of the city, at the end of Republic Street, on Restoration Square, there is one of the city's churches that are worth visiting. This is the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary - Nossa Senhora do Rosario. The temple was built in 1698 with donations from fishermen and was the first stone building built in the city of Oljan.

The baroque facade of the Church of the Virgin Mary of the Rosary attracts attention. The pediment is adorned with curls, and in the center is a shield flanked by angels. The temple was consecrated a little later, in 1715. The entrance to the main chapel of the temple is made in the form of a triumphal arch; inside the chapel there is a carved gilded altar of the 17th century. The ceiling is decorated with 17th century fresco paintings depicting the Virgin Mary of the Rosary. There are also side chapels with carved altars inside. The sculptures inside the temple will not go unnoticed, namely the 17th century sculptures depicting the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and the Apostles.
