Museum of money description and photo - Ukraine: Kiev. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photos and a map showing the nearest significant objects. Photo and descriptionThe Museum of Money is the brainchild of the National Bank of Ukraine, which managed to pick up an interesting collection of samples of banknotes used on the territory of Ukraine from ancient times to the present day. The National Bank has been collecting this collection since its inception, using both archaeological finds and gifts made to bank employees during their travels. Here you can find the very first money in the form of arrowheads and shells that were used in the Bronze Age, and the money that went to the Greek colonial cities of the Northern Black Sea region. However, the greatest interest is aroused by the first coins minted by the princes of Kievan Rus, since some of them, for example, the gold coins of Prince Vladimir the Great, exist in only eleven copies. Not without the ancient Russian hryvnia, which gave the name to the modern Ukrainian currency. There is also a foreign currency in the Museum of Money, which was also used for settlements on the territory of modern Ukraine, for example, Arab dirhams, from which necklaces were often made. As entertainment with a cognitive bias, the Museum of Money has a device for minting coins: every interested visitor can try himself as an employee of the mint, independently minting a commemorative coin. The banknotes in denomination in 200 euros, which is explained by their origin - they are fake, made by Kulibins from Nikolaev. Moreover, the level of counterfeiting turned out to be so high that it is possible to distinguish bills from real ones only with the help of special equipment.
