Talampaya Park is a protected area with a total area of 2150 sq. meters. In 1997, Talampaya received the status of a national park, and in 2000 UNESCO included it in the World Heritage List.

The main purpose of the formation of the park is the preservation and protection of archaeological and paleontological excavations, which are located in huge numbers in Talampaya. On numerous rocks you can find a variety of images of people, animals and abstract drawings. The Lost City is considered a remarkable place; it is known not only for its petroglyphs, but also for a large cluster of bizarre boulders. The remains of ancient dwellings and cemeteries were also found there. In addition, in the dry bed of the Talampaya River, scientists have found the bones of one of the very first dinosaurs on Earth and fossil turtles. whose age is 210 million years.

In the local botanical garden Talampaya you can see the most unique representatives of the flora of this region of the country. Among the rich fauna are notable guanacos, maars, gray foxes.

Tourists are invited to the information center, walks in the botanical garden, trips to the "Lost City" and to the Talampaya river bed. Numerous shops offer souvenirs with images of petroglyphs and cave paintings. To preserve the original appearance of the park, it was decided to restrict access to it.
