Photo and description

Nasugbu is a small town in the Batangas province on the Luzon island. Located on the shores of the South China Sea, it is famous for its sandy beaches and excellent opportunities for water sports, most notably diving.

Perhaps the most popular dive site in Nasugbu is Treasure Island - a small private island a couple of kilometers from the city. Here you can visit the half-flooded cave of the Bats, or dive into the Blue Holes, home to giant octopuses, cuttlefish and turtles. Near the island, at the bottom of the sea, rests the remains of an old barge, which was chosen by underwater photographers.

Another interesting place in the vicinity of Nasugbu is the Twin Islands, which are actually underwater rocks with tops sticking out of the water. Immersed in the sea, you can see coral colonies, colorful tropical fish and real sharks. Not far away is the so-called Pink Wall - an almost vertical underwater rock covered with thousands of pink corals, around which green turtles and small fish scurry.

Cape Fuego is located to the north of the Twin Islands, near the coast of which the remains of a sunken something of a Spanish galleon. The anchor, ropes and ship's chains are still perfectly preserved. This place is considered suitable for beginner divers.

Nasugbu itself has long remained an unremarkable provincial town, even the date of its foundation is still unknown. However, a year before the outbreak of World War II, archaeologists excavated in its vicinity, made a discovery on a national scale - a wooden cow statuette was found here, which is of great importance for understanding the ancient history of the Philippines. The find was immediately transferred to the National Museum, but, unfortunately, could not survive the destruction of the war years, and was destroyed. However, a year after the end of the war, new archaeological artifacts were found in the vicinity of Nasugbu, which became the most important prehistoric artifacts of the country.

In 2007, Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo declared Nasugbu, famous for its beaches, a special tourist area. A development plan for this zone was immediately developed and approved by the Philippine Tourism Association. In accordance with the plan, the Hamilo Coast resort village with an area of 59 sq km was built on the territory of Mount Pico de Loro National Park. with a ferry pier, where ships arrive directly from the Manila Bay.
