Photo and description

Bottom is a railway junction station at the Oktyabrskaya railway, which is located in the Pskov region, in the city of the same name, at the intersection of the railway lines of the cities of St. Petersburg - Rybinsk and Vitebsk - Pskovskie-Pechory .

Initially, at the largest station Dno, in addition to important station facilities, a round locomotive depot was built. In this place, it was possible to carry out major repairs of steam locomotives. The depot contained twelve stalls for locomotives, and rails fanned out from the turning circle towards them. It is unusual that with the help of the most ordinary wooden lever, the turntable was set in motion, while the entire locomotive crew operated the lever. Small railway workshops were built at the depot. A small wooden station was built in the northern part of the station tracks. Soon a water pumping station and a warehouse appeared.

Not far from the station along the tracks stretched the only street related to the station settlement, which was named Nevsky Prospect. Due to the fact that there are no large reservoirs in the Bottom, a special artesian well was drilled. To the east and west of the station, there was a bed of railway tracks: the hum of telegraph wires could be clearly heard. The crossing was located every six kilometers, and at each kilometer there was a very narrow crossing intended for peasant carts.

From Rybinsk, Moscow, Bologovo and St. Petersburg, locomotive mechanics, railroad workers and artisans came. Steam locomotives of the OD series of the same name arrived at the depot, having a funnel instead of a pipe. On the sidings were carriages with the inscription: "Eight horses or forty people." The construction of the famous Dno station began around 1896, and was opened for the movement of steam locomotives in 1897.

The first Karamyshevo station appeared around 1896. It was erected on the private lands of the Karamyshev landowners, who did a lot for the development of Russia. This family was well known among the nobility circles. The station was named after the owners of the local land. Karamyshevo station played a particularly important role not only in sending and receiving, but also in the execution of trade processes and operations.

Back in the last century, on the banks of the famous Pskov River, there was an estate called Berezka, which most likely corresponded to the name of the nearby stream - Berezka, which was under the jurisdiction of Baron Madema. In 1897, on the Dno-Pskov railway lines, the Berezki half-station was put into operation.

In the process of approaching the Bologoye - Pskov railway branch to the station of the city of Pskov, the question was raised: how to draw the line in order to take into account the needs and interests of the city, while not cutting the access roads to the railway in Warsaw. At a meeting of the City Duma in the city of Pskov - April 22, 1897 - this kind of issue was very seriously discussed. At the same time, the builders of the Bologovskaya railway put up for discussion the following option: it was necessary to cross the belt of the Warsaw road from the north, namely at the station near the village of Berezki. Then draw the Bologovskaya line strictly parallel to the Warsaw road. After that, cross the highway that leads from Pskov to Kresty, and along the line of intersection of this highway, go to the approach highway directly to the station, go to the food warehouse, then go past the station garden and the warehouse to the station of the city of Pskov with the device of two platforms: the first for passengers and the second for the army. The city's authorized representatives were satisfied with the proposed combination.

In November 1897, the governor of Pskov received a telegram from the railway department, which spoke of the opening of the correct freight and passenger traffic along the Bologoye - Pskov section built: from the station in the city of Pskov to Bologoye station along the Nikolaev road. After a while, after the construction of the Petersburg-Vitebsk station during 1901-1904, Dno became a full-fledged junction station, which it is today.
