Photo and description

The sculptural composition is located between the buildings of the Saratov Administration, the City Duma and the Radishchev Museum on Stolypin Square.

Pyotr Arkadyevich Stolypin is a talented reformer, statesman, served as prime minister Minister of the Russian Empire. But for Saratov, he was and remains an honorary citizen of the city and the governor, who elevated the city to the rank of the largest center of industry and trade.

The sculptural composition consists of several symbols of the ideas of the Stolypin reform. The monument includes a 3.5-meter figure of Stolypin, and on four sides of it there are: an Orthodox priest, a peasant, a warrior and a blacksmith. On the pedestal the phrase “We need a great Russia” is engraved from the famous slogan of Pyotr Arkadievich. The idea of the composition was borrowed from the monument to Alexander II, destroyed in the revolutionary period, which stood in front of the entrance to the Lipki Park at the beginning of the twentieth century. The author of the idea is V.M.Klykov, President of the International Foundation for Slavic Culture and Writing.

The grand opening of the monument was timed to coincide with the 140th anniversary of this country's reformer - Pyotr Arkadyevich Stolypin (April 17, 2002). Many famous figures of Russia came to the opening of the sculptural composition, but the most pleasant thing for the people of Saratov was to see the great-grandson of Pyotr Arkadievich, who came from France, at the ceremony. After the installation of the monument, the square began to be called "Stolypin".

The Saratov sculptural composition became the first monument to Pavel Stolypin in Russia.
