The mountain is located in the Agumatsa ridge system near the villages of Liati Vote and Gblidi, in the Volta region on the border with Togo. Afaja means a thorny poisonous bush that grows on the slopes, and the ending of "to" in the Ewe dialect is "mountain". From the top, visitors can enjoy fantastic panoramic views of the surrounding communities, forests, mountains, valleys and Lake Volta. Afajato is covered with tropical forests, which are home to a variety of animals and plants. During the ascent, travelers have the opportunity to admire more than three hundred species of butterflies; 33 species of mammals have been recorded in the thickets, among which primates stand out.
