The Museum of Fine Arts was opened on the grounds of the Gyeonghigun Palace - one of the "Five Big Palaces", the largest of them. The museum consists of 6 exhibition halls and an outdoor sculpture park. In addition, in 2002, a branch of the museum was opened behind the Deoksugung royal residence, which was larger than the museum at Gyeonghigung Palace. The exhibits were placed in the building that used to be the High Court. Repairs were carried out, the building was re-planned and improved. The exhibition halls are located on three floors; an annex is adjacent to the building, where the administration of the museum is located. There are also lecture classes.
