Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary description and photos - India: Goa. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photographs and a map showing the nearest significant objects. The title in English is Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary. Photo and descriptionThe smallest nature reserve in Goa is Bondla Nature Reserve, which is located in a hilly area about 55 km from the state capital, Panaji. The reserve, although located in the jungle, is more like a large garden in which many different animals live. Its area is only 8 square kilometers, but this does not prevent it from being one of the tourist centers of Goa. The reserve is especially popular among people vacationing with families, as there you can admire such rare animals as bison, Malabar giant squirrels, leopards and Indian bison from a fairly close distance. Some species of animals live in aviaries, which are located in the center of the reserve, and some walk by themselves, such as wild boars, quietly walking among tourists. Ornithologists and simply bird lovers from all over the world flock to the reserve, since it is in this region that a large number of various bird species are found, including the unique Indian peacock. Adds beauty to the reserve and two rivers flowing through its territory - Rangao and Madkhel. But the park is famous not only for its numerous fauna and beautiful landscapes. So during the construction of the zoo, the ruins of a temple were discovered, as well as stone slabs hidden from the Portuguese conquerors and inquisitors, on which Hindu deities were carved. These finds, of extraordinary cultural value, are also located in the reserve. Bondla is open daily (except for the zoo, which is closed on Thursdays) from 9 am to 5 pm. To make a walk through the reserve even more exotic, you can ride an elephant "rented" for an additional fee. Topic: Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary description and photos - India: Goa. |
