One of the oldest settlements of the Novgorod region - Lyubytino has a unique uniqueness. This uniqueness is explained by the large number of monuments of particular value from an archaeological point of view. All the monuments are located in a relatively small area, there is no such overcrowding of historical buildings in Europe anywhere else.

Archaeological monuments are scattered throughout the territory. Near the bridge on the Msta River, high hills rise, striking in their grandeur. The hills are man-made hills of about ten meters in height, with Slavic burial structures hidden under them. In the whole district you can count about two hundred such embankments. These heaped hills were worshiped in the days of the Gentiles.
The most prominent of these hills is a mound with a length of about one hundred and sixty meters, which is part of a group of forty-seven hills, their average height is no more than nine meters. In the entire North-West of the Russian Federation, nowhere else can you find such a concentration of such monumental monuments.

The Slavic princes of Lyubotyn lands were chosen as their residence because of the convenient waterway along which the tribute was brought. At the end of the first millennium, Lyubytino could compete with Novgorod. A rivalry for supremacy and primacy should have begun between them, but for some unknown reason this did not happen. Very little information about that time and events has reached. The surviving chronicles are scarce, it is only known for certain that in 947 the Kiev princess Olga brought her squad to this region. Its main goal was to subjugate the basins of the Msta and Luga rivers to its authority. On the territory of Lyubytino, Olga founded a princely churchyard, which became part of the Novgorod possessions.

In order to preserve the monuments, the surroundings of Lyubytino were declared a reserve in 1986. Security signs were installed near the hills. The ten-century history of this small part of the Russian land is inextricably linked with the destinies of the great people of Russia, for example, such as the Elder Amfilochiy, who brought the Word of God to people and breathed life into the Recon Monastery. One cannot but recall the Monk Nikandr Gorodzensky, who founded Nikandrov's hermitage on the shores of Lake Gorodno. After his death, miracles at the tomb made his name famous. Life and deeds have become an example and guide to action for many people. Great Russian commander, Generalissimo - Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov visited these places many times. The family estate of the Suvorovs was located in the village of Kamenka. And now you can visit the church of Prince Alexander Nevsky and the manor house, which are very well preserved. According to some sources A.V. Suvorov was born on this estate, and & nbsp; not in Moscow.

Residents of Lyubytino and surrounding villages made a significant contribution during the Patriotic War of 1812. This event was immortalized by the majestic Church of the Assumption of the Virgin, a large role in the construction of which was played by Colonel Alexander Vasilyevich Khanykov. The temple, which can be visited even now, is a “temple with a ringing”. At the time the temple was being built, it was a very rare type of temple. The temple was erected under the guidance of the famous architect Lvov, according to other sources the architect was Stasov. The temple offers an amazingly beautiful view of another historical place - the family estate of Ivan Logginovich Goremykin, who was the last Chairman of the Council of Ministers under Tsar Nicholas II.

Lyubytino is a truly amazing place with a rich, thousand-year history. This is the place that could be the beginning of the revival of our spirituality.
