Not far away is the large Rifflesee lake, where a hiking trail is laid in winter and a tourist recreation area in summer. The Pitztal glacier also attracts many tourists from all over Europe every year. In December 1983, funiculars began to operate, lifting from a height of 1720 meters to a height of 2840 meters. The maximum ascent speed is 43 km / h, the average travel time is 8 minutes. The tunnel, in which the funiculars operate, meets all modern safety standards: there is lighting, smoke detectors, fire alarms, video surveillance. The lifts operate from mid-September to early June each year. The development of tourism on the Pitztal Glacier is constantly criticized by environmentalists, but it provides jobs for many residents of St. Leonard.
