The museum was created on the initiative of the scientific community of Russia. E.P. Peshkova, wife of A.M. Gorky, N.A. Peshkov, wife of M.Peshkov, M.M. and D.M. Peshkovs - granddaughters of the writer, I.F. Shalyapin-Baksheeva - daughter of F.I.Shalyapin. A unique exposition based on genuine material tells about the last (1902 - 1904) years of Nizhny Novgorod A.M. Gorky, which became for the writer the heyday of his literary and social activities. Over the years of his life in this house, more than 50 works of the writer have been translated into 16 languages of the world. Here the play `` At the Bottom '' was completed, `` Summer Residents '', the poem `` Man '' were written, work on the story `` Mother '' began. The exposition allows you to feel the atmosphere of society at the beginning of the century.
