The building was built in the first half of the 17th century. These are the production premises, in which the system of air ducts, necessary in the foundry according to the Dutch technology, has been preserved. Inside the building, during excavations, elements of ancient brick and stone structures of the era of the Volga Bulgaria and the Kazan Khanate, dating back to the 12-16 centuries, were found. The restoration of the Southern building was carried out in 1998-2005. The western part of the building is adjacent to the Kremlin wall. Picturesque ruins are located near the building to the east. The ruins indicate that in the past the building was part of a U-shaped complex. The building has two floors, with a double-height space inside. The South building is covered with a timber roof. There are tall brick pipes on the roof covered with pointed protective caps. The caps are completed by weathercocks. The facades of the building are decorated with blades. A decorative belt runs under the window cornices. The bow-shaped arches of the windows are framed by rectangular architraves in the form of a roller made of brick and fascia. The doors are decorated with wrought iron. Wooden galleries adjoin the north wall from the outside and from the inside.
