Petronas Towers, also known as the Twin Towers, is an 88-storey skyscraper with a height of 451.9 meters. According to the official definition and ranking of the Council for High-Rise Buildings and the Urban Environment (an international organization that deals with high-rise construction), the twin towers were considered the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004. The Petronas Twin Towers are considered the hallmark of the city, as is the Menara Kuala Lumpur - Kuala Lumpur TV Tower.

Argentine architect Cesar Pelli worked on the skyscraper project, among whose projects are the World Financial Center and Carnegie Hall Tower in New York, the International Financial Center in Hong Kong and others. The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahathir Mohamad, took part in the design. He proposed to build the buildings in the "Islamic style", so the towers are built in the form of eight-pointed stars at the base, and Cesar Pelly added semicircular ledges to make the buildings more stable.

The architect Pelli began working on the project of the Petronas Twin Towers in 1992, but the construction of the skyscraper began only in 1993. The construction took about 6 years. The skyscrapers were officially opened in 1999, in August.

The first tower houses Petronas, a Malaysian oil and gas company, its subsidiaries and associated companies, while the second tower houses such well-known companies as Huawei Technologies, the international television company Ad-Jazeera, Bloomberg ”, American corporation“ The Boeing Company ”, IBM and many others.
