St. Elizabeth Monastery description and photos - Russia - Baltic States: Kaliningrad. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photos and a map showing the nearest significant objects. Photo and descriptionOne of the few monasteries built in our time, is located on the outskirts of Kaliningrad, next to the historical fort No. 5 (Kaiser Friedrich Wilhelm III). The St. Elizabeth Monastery was founded by Princess Elizabeth Feodorovna Koltsova, who invested her personal funds in the construction of the temple, which later became the main sanctuary of the nunnery. In 2000, in the central region of Kaliningrad, with the blessing of Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad (later - the Patriarch of All Russia), the Holy Elizabeth Monastery was established. Nowadays, the territory of the monastery with the Church of Elizabeth Feodorovna and the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God "Satisfy My Sorrows" is considered a courtyard, and the convent itself is located in a picturesque place in the Kaliningrad region (the village of Priozerye). Within the walls of the monastery there are three active sketes (in honor of Venerable Alexander Svirsky, St. Ferapont Mozhaisk, Spiridon Trimifuntsky) and three under construction. The temples contain the relics of saints Fyodor Ushakov, Alexander Svirsky and Spiridon Trimifuntsky. Also on the territory of the monastery there is a gallery of paintings by the abbess Elizabeth, a museum in honor of the holy royal passion-bearers, a spring with fonts and reservoirs with holy water. A marble monument to the princess was erected in the center of the convent. Near the monastery house, where the refectory and the hotel for pilgrims are located, there is a holy well. A 25-meter high worship cross is also considered a tourist attraction of the St. Elizabeth Monastery.
