The Cathedral of St. Cristobal is located in Havana, on the famous Cathedral Square, rich in attractions. Its construction began by the Jesuits in 1750, but in 1776 they were expelled from the country in the name of the Spanish king. Therefore, when the consecration of the temple took place in 1788, its founders were not present. The entire Cathedral Square is distinguished by unique ancient architecture, designed in the spirit of the Spanish colonial style. The Cathedral of St. Cristobal, its internal vaults are made of wood, in the 19th century they were covered with plaster, so that they resemble the Gothic vaults of European churches. The floor was originally laid with stone slabs, but later it was replaced by marble. The church keeps many secrets and secrets, many of which have not been revealed to this day. Inside the cathedral you can see ancient tombs and walls that are covered with thousands of handprints. They say these are traces of slaves and creators. It was here that the remains of the great traveler Christopher Columbus were originally buried, which were later transferred to Seville. On the right side of the Cathedral of St. Cristobal, you can also visit the Palace of the Marquis de Agua Clara, famous for its cafe-restaurant.
