The small Kanonia street is located in the very center of the Old Town. Its most famous section is a small extension behind the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, which is called Canon Square. This triangular square is one of the landmarks of Warsaw. It got its modern name in the 17th century. The houses that are located along its perimeter then belonged to the canons of the local chapter. Here you could often see priests hurrying to the Royal Castle or going to serve in the cathedral. Among the inhabitants of the local mansions, it is worth noting Stanislav Stashitsa - an educated person who, along with other authors, developed the Constitution adopted in 1791.

Kanonia Square is located on the site, which used to be part of the city cemetery. All the graves were destroyed, but the builders did not raise a hand on the statues decorating the tombstones. One of these sculptures is installed in this square. This is a statue of the Virgin, created by an unknown master in a baroque manner. In the center of the square is a cracked bell, cast in 1646 by D. Tim. It was intended for the church in Yaroslav, but was never delivered there. Numerous tourists who gather in the square believe that touching the bell brings good luck.

Another attraction of the Kanonia Square is the covered corridor, through which Queen Anne could walk unnoticed from her palace directly to the Cathedral. It was built in the 16th century.

Finally, The most interesting architectural monument of the Kanonia Square is considered to be the "thin" house, the width of the facade of which does not exceed the size of one window. Previously, taxes were levied depending on the size of the property, so the owners of the famous narrow house decided to save money in this way.
