Museum “Anna Akhmatova. Silver Age ”is located on Avtovskaya Street in St. Petersburg. It is dedicated to the "queen of Russian poetry" - Anna Andreevna Akhmatova. The museum was opened in 1976. In its development, it went through several stages: from semi-official in 1987 to state at the beginning of the XXI century - 2001. During all this time, the museum staff have collected a lot of different information and material about Akhmatova. Approximately 23,000 storage units appeared here.

Anna Andreevna Akhmatova was born in 1889. The real name is Gorenko. According to her personal recollections, at the age of eleven she wrote her first poem. The first collection of poetry was "Evening", which appeared in print in 1912 and became extremely famous in the literary environment.

The poetry of Anna Akhmatova is distinguished by some drama and tension, but at the same time it is laconic and understandable. The connection between Akhmatova's poetry and the traditions of Russian poetry is obvious. In the mood of poetry, the poets Innokenty Annensky and Alexander Blok were closer to her than everyone else.

Akhmatova's creative activity, lasting almost sixty years, crossed several eras, but retained its aspirations and principles. The poetess's poems clearly show a spiritual connection with the time she experienced, with the new course of life. She was happy that she lived with Russia in such a turbulent and impetuous time.

Marina Ivanovna Tsvetaeva called the poetess "Anna of All Russia", thus giving her work a high appreciation. The museum is called Anna Akhmatova. Silver Age "precisely because that her role among the poets of the Silver Age is extremely great and priceless.

The Akhmatov Museum tells not only about the poetess and her creative activity, but also about the life and work of her husband, the famous poet of the Silver Age Nikolai Stepanovich Gumilyov, as well as their son, the historian Lev Nikolayevich Gumilyov. The museum exposition has a chronological sequence and occupies 9 exhibition halls: Tsarskoe, Slepnevo, Stray Dog, The Journey of Nikolai Gumilyov, Petersburg, Requiem, Komarovo, Poem Without a Hero, Room memory ".

In the museum you can get acquainted with the life of Anna Andreevna in Tsarskoye and Slepnevo, about bohemian life and performances in the art-cafe" Stray Dog ", about her husband's travels to Africa, about life in St. Petersburg, about the tragic fate of Nikolai Gumilyov and the imprisonment of Lev Gumilyov in prison. The exhibition ends with halls dedicated to the confrontation between Akhmatova and Soviet power and her last years of life.

The museum has a collection of unique exhibits. Here visitors will see the only portrait of Anna Akhmatova, created by A. Davydov, and the portrait of Nikolai Gumilyov. Among the most valuable museum items are books with autographs of the poetess, items from R. Benyash's house, lifetime works of N. Gumilyov, A. Akhmatova and L. Gumilyov, personal belongings of L. Gumilyov, a piano from the Lozinsky house. Also in the Akhmatova Museum there is a collection of antique rare furniture, sculpture, porcelain, a collection of graphics and books from her personal library.

In the museum " Anna Akhmatova. Silver Age " the employees organized cultural and educational activities: musical and literary evenings are organized here, exhibitions and lectures are held. Museum visitors will be able not only to feel like the contemporaries of outstanding poets, but also to feel the atmosphere of that time.
