The Bay of Orosei and Gennargentu National Park is a protected natural area located on the east coast of Sardinia in the provinces of Nuoro and Ogliastra.

Among the animals living in the park, you can name the Sardinian forest cat, wild ram, monk seal, marten, fox, weasel and small rodents like the dormouse and garden dormouse. Huge birds of prey soar in the sky - griffon vultures, golden eagles, peregrine falcons, hawk eagles, and in the forest you can hear the rattling of great variegated woodpeckers. Luxurious flowers were chosen by Corsican sailboats - rare butterflies that live only in Corsica and Sardinia.

The highest peak of the Gennargentu mountain range, like the entire island, is Punta La Marmora, located in the communes of Desulo and Arzana, - 1834 meters above sea level. It got its name in honor of the Italian geographer from Piedmont, Alberto Ferrero della Marmora. The mountain is located east of the approximate center of Sardinia, and from its top offers stunning views of the surrounding area. In clear weather, most of the coast and all the peaks located nearby are visible from here.

In addition, on the territory of the national park there are a number of natural monuments that may be of interest to tourists - the rocks of Pedra e Liana, Pedra Longa di Baunei, Punta Goloritze peak, Su Suercone valley, Texile di Aritzo rock formation and Su Sterr. Forests of Montarbu, Alaze, Huatzo and Montes are also located here. The latter has a particular ecological value, as it consists of vast oak groves, one of the last in Europe. The Gorroppu Gorge is also popular with visitors to the park - a huge abyss created by the Rio Flumineddu River: its walls reach a height of 400 meters.

Among the places of archaeological importance, one can distinguish the village of Tiscali, located in the Supramonte di Oliena valley, with traces of a settlement from the 6th-4th centuries BC. Finally, it is on the territory of the Gennargentu National Park that the only ski resort in Sardinia is located - on the slopes of the Monte Spada, Brunco Spina, Separadorgu and S'arena mountains.
