Photo and description
The Croatian Museum of Natural History is located in the capital of the state, Zagreb. It is located in the Amaleo Palace, which was built in the 18th century. From 1797 to 1834 there was a theater in the palace building. And in 1868, the first collections were placed here, transported from the department of natural history of the National Museum. Today the museum has more than 2.5 million exhibits, including archaeological finds made in Krapina.
The exposition of the Museum of Natural History tells about how our planet was formed, how life was born on Earth. Here you can see ancient rocks, various semi-precious and precious stones. The museum also features a rich collection of representatives of the Croatian fauna. Many of these animals live in state national parks, but it is almost impossible to find them in the wild. Another collection of the Museum of Natural History is paleontological. Unfortunately, some of the most valuable exhibits are not on display. These include, for example, the human skull from Krapina, which was discovered in northern Croatia.
In the Croatian Museum of Natural History, you can also learn about the mysteries hidden in the history of Zagreb, from prehistoric times to our days. The museum also presents urban plans created in the 19th and 20th centuries, a large number of drawings and paintings depicting Kaptal and Hradec as they were before the earthquake.
