Photo and description

The Obradov Monastery of the Holy Great Martyr Mina is a nunnery located 7.5 km north-east of Sofia. According to legend, it was founded during the decline of the Roman Empire and was a majestic building with forty chapels and many other buildings. It is also believed that in the same place, not far from the chapel of St. Nicholas, there was a Roman bath, powered by hot underground mineral springs. However, the monastery in its original form has not survived to this day and still remains a mystery how long it existed and when it was destroyed. Only in 1927 did the inhabitants of the village of Obradovtsi begin to find bricks and tiles on the site of an old monastery, and later they discovered the altar of an old church and a stone well not far from it.

Soon after that, the collection of donations from the parishioners began, thanks to which the monastery was rebuilt and acquired a modern look. The altar itself was created by two Sofia masters Kosta Dinoev and Mircho Radulov, and the icons for the altar were painted by prof. Georgy Bogdanov. Other elements of the interior - chandeliers, carpets, icons, vessels and much more - were donated to the church by believers. There is also a large icon of St. Mina in the church, which, according to many, can work miracles.

In 1956, a chapel of Saints Cosmas and Damian was built next to the Obradovo monastery, consecrated in 1957. In its altar built-in mineral spring.
