Photo and descriptionDulahazra Safari Park is located along the road from Chittagong to Cox's Bazar at a distance of 50 km from the city and is an animal sanctuary. It is inhabited by many wild and tamed elephants. Bengal tigers, lions, crocodiles, monkeys, bears and many species of birds can be found here. Dulahazra Safari Park was set in a hilly landscape of about 2,224 acres (9.00 sq km) in Chakaria Upaliza. near Cox's Bazar, and 107 km from the port city of Chittagong. The main goal was to create conditions for eco-tourism and entertainment, research work, as well as preserving the life of wild animals in their natural environment. Dulahazra Safari Park is home to almost 4000 animals of 165 species. After the new government came to power, in January 2007, many of the park's current residents were rescued by joint efforts with animal activists. Some formerly domesticated elephants were on the brink of life and death and were kept in dire conditions. Many people also donated some animals to the park during this period. Only recently removed and donated animals were treated and sent to the reserve. Of the last animals that have come to the park, 90 sika deer, 42 barking deer, three Sambar deer, one freshwater crocodile, one saltwater crocodile, nine black bears, four pythons, 17 peacocks, 19 Turkish pheasants and two emus live here. The park is protected by many wild elephants that live in natural conditions in this area. The safari park also has domesticated elephants that you can ride.
