St. Nicholas Church is the oldest religious building in the Danish city of Kolling. It was erected at the beginning of the 13th century, but in the course of numerous restoration works it was completely rebuilt at the end of the 19th century in the neo-Gothic style. At the same time, the interior of the church was preserved - it is designed in the Baroque style. The church is located in the immediate vicinity of Collinghus Castle.

The temple was rebuilt several times - moreover, there is a high probability that an ancient wooden sanctuary stood on this site earlier. The last time the church was completely rebuilt was in 1885-1886, and in this form it has survived to this day. The Church of St. Nicholas is a dark red brick building, covered with a red roof and topped by a powerful high tower with a neo-Gothic spire. The tower is over 53 meters high. The windows are also made in accordance with this style - they are large in size and decorated with graceful arcades.

As for the interior of the church, you should pay attention to the sacristy behind the choir - it was added in the Late Gothic era. & nbsp; The North Chapel was also added quite a long time ago - in 1575, and it served as the personal chapel of King Frederick II of Denmark. The choir stalls themselves were completely rebuilt in 1885-1886.

It is interesting that the interior of the temple has survived, despite the complete reconstruction of the cathedral itself. The altar was made in 1589, the exquisitely finished pulpit was completed in 1591, and the baptismal font, decorated with images of the evangelists Luke and Mark and other biblical characters, dates back to 1619. Also of particular interest are the tombstones and epitaphs dating from the late 16th - early 17th centuries.

Many old bells of the 17th century have been preserved in the bell tower of the cathedral. A cozy park is laid out around the church, located on the site of an ancient cemetery.
