The Dolgaya Spit is the longest spit on the Yeisk Peninsula. Its length is 8 kilometers. Spit Dolgaya is a landscape natural monument of the Krasnodar Territory, it is often called the pearl of the Azov Sea. There are unique shell beaches, deep sea, freshwater lakes, rich flora and fauna of the Sea of Azov and the Azov steppes. A plot of artificial pine forest has a healing effect on vacationers.

A hurricane that swept over the Sea of Azov on March 13, 1914, partially destroyed the spit. The strait was formed and the Dolgy Island, which then either joined the spit or disintegrated into separate shell islands. A similar play of nature is observed now: numerous islets disappear and appear.
