Description, photographs and a map showing the nearest significant objects. The title in English is Parco regionale dei laghi di Suviana e Brasimone. Photo and descriptionThe Lakes Suviana and Brasimone Natural Park, created in 1995, is located in the Emilia-Romagna region on the border with Tuscany. It includes a part of the Bologna Apennines and two reservoirs created at the beginning of the 20th century for the construction of a hydroelectric power plant - Lake Suviana surrounded by a pine forest and Lake Brasimone, whose shores are overgrown with grass. The total area of the park is 1902 hectares. Its southern border runs along the shore of another artificial lake - Pavana. The entire territory of the park is covered with forest - pine dominates here, but there are also oaks, ash trees, chestnuts and spruces. Deer, roe deer, wild boars and fallow deer live in the thickets. In old chestnut groves, great spotted and green woodpeckers have found shelter. Lake Suviana was formed in 1928-1935 after the construction of a dam with a height of 91.5 meters. It is completely located in the province of Bologna. The power source is the Eastern Limentra stream. On the eastern shore of the lake is the commune of Camugnano, on the west - the commune of Castel del Casio. In addition, a beautiful view of the reservoir opens from the towns of Suviana, Badi, Barji and Stagno. Today the lake is used not only as a source for a hydroelectric power plant, but also for balneological purposes, as well as for practicing various water sports. Lake Brasimone was born in 1911 - this is the oldest of four reservoirs built to supply electricity to the Bologna-Pistoia railway line. On its southeast coast is the ENEA Research Institute, where, according to the 1970 Italian-French project, a nuclear power plant was to appear. Work on its creation began in 1972, but was suspended following the results of a referendum on nuclear energy in Italy in 1978. We also recommend reading G. R.
