Located in the old part of the wonderful city of Hyderabad, not far from Charminar, the Mecca Masjid Mosque is one of the oldest and largest mosques in India.

The ideological inspiration for the construction of Mecca Back in 1614, Masjad became the ruler of the Sultanate of Golconda, Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah, who decided to transfer to India a piece of the holy land for all Muslims - Mecca, therefore, on his order, land was delivered from there, from which bricks were made for the central arch of the new mosque. The construction was completed in 1694 by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb who conquered Golconda.

Granite Mecca Masjad can simultaneously accommodate about 10 thousand people. Its huge main hall, over 22 meters high, is surrounded by 15 beautiful arches, and the walls are decorated with carved borders and stucco. As in any mosque, the main decoration of Mecca Masjid is its minarets, which, although not tall, are very elegant. The balconies, supported by arches, are covered with carved designs and decorative elements. And the domes are crowned with sharp bronze spiers.

On the territory of the mosque there is a special pond in which you can wash your hands, and there are also two stone benches on one side of it, and, according to the legend, everyone who sat on them will definitely return to this mosque.

The entrance to the courtyard is a long arched corridor decorated with small minarets, at the end of which are the tombs of the rulers of Assad Jahi and some Nizams.
