The Vejle Fjord Bridge is one of the most popular motorways in Denmark, connecting the two banks of the Vejle Fjord. The bridge project was developed by the well-known Danish architect Orla Molgaard-Nielsen. In 1965, the Danish parliament decided to design the A10 road, which involved an exit from the highway west of Vejle through Greisdalen and Vejle along the river valley. In 1972, the route of the motorway project was changed to pass through the Vejle fjord. By the Parliamentary Committee on Transport in 1974, the construction of the highway was frozen due to strong pressure from political opponents of the project. But in 1975, on behalf of the mayor of Erling County Tiedemann, construction of the bridge over the Vejle fjord was resumed.

The competition for the design of the structure and appearance of the bridge was won by two Danish construction companies Dyckerhoff & Widmann AG and Monberg & Thorsen A / S. The architects suggested building the bridge in a neutral classical style so as not to spoil the beauty of the surrounding woodland. At the beginning of July 1980, construction was completed. The roadway of the bridge consists of hollow box-shaped reinforced concrete beams with eighteen columns, the distance between which is 110 meters. The total length of the Vejle Fjord Bridge is 1,712 meters long and 27.6 meters wide; here six lanes are open for traffic (three in one direction, three in the other).

The Vejle Fjord is the sixth longest construction bridge in Denmark. It is currently the busiest highway in Denmark.
