Photo and description

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Warsaw was founded in 2005. In 2006, an international architectural competition for the best museum project was announced, in which 109 architects from different countries took part. The winner of the competition was the project presented by the Swiss architect Christian Kerez. The 35,000 square meter building was supposed to be completed by 2016, however, in September 2012, the partnership was terminated. The city authorities decided to place the museum in the former furniture pavilion "Emilia", which is considered an example of modernist architecture in Warsaw.

Since 2008, the museum staff began painstaking work to create a permanent collection, which was the beginning of creative cooperation with international art institutions ... Currently, the museum is more like a gallery, where thematic exhibitions are held, educational master classes are being developed for students of creative specialties. The mission of the museum is to create a complete and valuable art collection. The main focus is on graphic and industrial design, as well as Polish art of the 20th and 21st centuries. The Center for Contemporary Art introduces visitors to new trends in various cultural spheres.

In 2008, the center hosted seven exhibitions introducing guests to the works of Wojciech Bakowski, Katarzyna Krakowiak, Peter Zilin, Piotr Lisowski and other contemporary artists. In the winter of 2012, the City for Sale exhibition was successfully held, which tells about the history of advertising development in Poland.
