Cathedral of St. Mary Magdalene Equal to the Apostles in Warsaw, an Orthodox church located in the center of Warsaw, was built in the second half of the 19th century.

In the 19th century in Warsaw the number of Russian citizens professing Orthodoxy increased, which sparked discussions about the need to build an Orthodox church in the city. In November 1865, the bishop of Warsaw received permission to create a special committee for construction, which included: Prince Vladimir Cherkassky and Yevgeny Petrovich Rozhnov - Civil Governor of Warsaw. An impressive project of the future church was presented by the architect Nikolai Sychev, who estimated the cost of construction at 122,000 rubles. The future temple was supposed to accommodate 1000 parishioners at the same time. The foundation stone of the church was laid on June 14, 1867, construction work was carried out quickly and was completed at the end of 1868. Only Russian craftsmen worked on the interior decoration of the church. All the murals were made by Vinogradov, Korsalin and Vasiliev.

The solemn consecration of the temple began with the ringing of bells at nine in the morning on June 29, 1869 and a parade of workers. In 1870, the cathedral was visited by the Russian emperor Alexander II.

Until the outbreak of the First World War, the church remained a parish, an orphanage and a church school worked here. In 1916, the church of St. Mary Magdalene, Equal to the Apostles, received the status of a metropolitan cathedral.

During the Second World War, the cathedral did not suffer insignificantly; in 1944, during the fighting, the roof partially collapsed.
