Photo & Description

The National Zoo and Aquarium is a private collection of animals located on the western shore of Lake Burleigh Griffin in Canberra's Yarralumla area. It is also the only zoo in Australia to have a combined aquarium.

In the zoo, you can see both endemic species and animals brought to the continent from other countries - for example, there is the largest collection of big cats in Australia, including the only tiger in the country (a cross between a tiger and lion). In addition to him, you can see here ordinary and white lions, Sumatran and Bengal tigers, puma, cheetah, serval (this is a small African wild cat), snow leopard. Other major inhabitants of the zoo are the Malayan biruang bear and the brown bear. The Australian fauna is represented by wild dogs, dingoes, koalas, kangaroos, wombats, Tasmanian devils, wallabies, emus and other animals. In addition, the zoo contains different types of restless monkeys, funny meerkats, long-necked giraffes, lazy reptiles and colorful birds. You can get acquainted with all the amazing inhabitants of the zoo by ordering one of the various tours, for example, Meeting a Cheetah, Morning Tea with a Cougar, Gourmet Lunch with Giraffes, Hugs with an Emu, etc. Here you can also feed with hands of lions, cook food for birds, come up with a puzzle for monkeys, or make some kind of toy for animals with your own hands.

The zoo runs a number of conservation campaigns that anyone can participate in by donating some money, for example, to save the snow leopards of Central Asia or the orangutans of Borneo.
