Torre de Collserola is a tall TV tower located in Barcelona on Mount Tibidabo, part of the Serra de Collserola mountain range. The TV tower was designed by the architect Sir Norman Foster.

In 1987, the city authorities announced a tender for the best idea for a television tower that could fully meet the communication needs of the city. Many engineers and architects took part in the tender. As a result, four preliminary projects were selected for more detailed consideration, each of which was distinguished by a high level of performance and a different conceptual solution from each other, from absolutely classical to high-tech. As a result, the winner was chosen, who became the architect, the Englishman Sir Norman Foster. Norman Foster set himself the task of creating a symbol of the city, personifying a new stage in its development, a symbol of freedom and the future of Barcelona.

The 288 meter high tower was erected for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Since then, it has been on the list of the tallest TV towers in the world.

The tower weighs 300 tons. The tower looks like a high spire, right in the center of which, as if strung on it, thirteen platform-floors are frozen, one of which is an observation deck. Given the fact that the TV tower is located on a high mountain, the height of this platform above sea level is 560 meters.
