The Tree of Life is a popular tourist attraction located two kilometers from Jebel Dukhan. The Bahraini Tree of Life (Shayarat al-Hayat) is approximately 400 years old. The height of the plant is prosopis cineraria - about 9.75 m. The tree stands on the top of a 7.6 m sandy mound, which formed around an ancient 500-year-old fortress.

Trees and shrubs of the genus prosopis are very well adapted to arid environment and have deep root system. Scientists admit that the roots of the tree can be up to 50 meters deep, and there is a source of moisture.

The plant is a local landmark, as it is the only large tree growing in the area. The "Tree of Life" is visited by about 50,000 tourists every year. As a result of vandalism by some tourists, the plant was damaged by graffiti drawings.

It is also believed that there were held religious rites, cults widespread in the pre-Islamic period of the country's history. In October 2010, archaeologists discovered pottery and other artifacts in the vicinity of the tree, some of which may be dated back to the Dilmun civilization.
