Photo and description

The SUSU Center for Rocket and Space Technology in Chelyabinsk is an unusual and interesting museum located in the building of the Aerospace Faculty of the South Ural State University, being its specialized structural division. In the center of rocket and space technology, you can get acquainted in detail with the history of the development of science and rocket and space technology.

Founded in February 1971, the institution has a rather unusual history. In the early 60s. at the Aerospace Faculty of the University (at that time mechanical), a special department "Laboratory 100" was organized. It was designed to store the latest missile weapons. The laboratory was used exclusively for educational purposes, providing an opportunity for students to study the structure of complex mechanisms, which ran on rocket fuel.

In 1994, the laboratory was transformed into the Training Center for Rocket and Space Technology, giving it the name of the General Designer Academician V. Makeev. The center trained highly qualified employees to work on improving the defense potential of the Chelyabinsk region.

Currently, the training center is a unique museum, where each of the visitors can see the world's only collection of a wide variety of ballistic missiles. Here you can see modern models of Dolphin and Typhoon missiles, and the world-famous Scud missile. In addition, samples of rocket engines and propulsion systems for submarines and spacecraft are presented. Most of the equipment was manufactured at the Ural enterprises.

In the museum, as well as many years ago, they conduct lectures and practical classes for students who study at the aerospace, energy and instrumentation faculty.
