Photo and description

Bastion in Ivano-Frankivsk is part of the fortifications of the Stanislav Fortress, which was located in the city center. The fortress was erected in 1662, and at one time it was an impregnable citadel. It was made in the form of a hexagon, with bastions, redoubts and a fort providing additional protection from the enemy. The bastions were external five-pointed fortifications. They were located at the corners of the hexagon and allowed weapons to fire along the walls.

The fortress has undergone numerous changes, which affected its buildings. In 2006, a decision was made to reconstruct it. By that time, only one part of the bastion was preserved in its former form, the rest survived only fragmentarily. After reconstruction, timed to the 350th anniversary of the city, The bastion was inaugurated.

To date, only the first, basement floor is open. Now there are souvenir shops here. However, during the second stage of reconstruction, it is planned to open the second floor of the bastion. On an area of more than 1200 sq.m. it is planned to open exhibition halls for artists and sculptors, as well as halls for various kinds of presentations.

The area around the bastion has also been restored, decorated with basalt paving stones. Now it is an ideal place for various kinds of festivals, exhibitions and other events.
