The museum was created on the basis of materials telling about the role of shipbuilding and navigation in the history of Karelia, Russia and Europe. The main part of the exposition of the museum of history and labor glory of the Avangard plant is made up of numerous models of ships, samples of souvenirs and furniture, as well as other products created at the enterprise. In addition, the exhibits include: various kinds of diplomas, certificates, banners, awards and gifts presented to the plant. The presented exposition includes three sections: the history of shipbuilding, presented in models of various kinds and purposes of ships; a photo exhibition entitled "Petrozavodsk - 300 years of factory service to the Russian fleet"; a collection dedicated to the labor glory of the Avangard shipyard, presented in relics and awards. The museum has an archive that has numerous collections of photographs, documents, albums and publications. The museum has a departmental status, and its founder is the Avangard shipyard itself.
