Photo and description

The abbot building with the house Vasilyevskaya church is located on the territory of the Murom Spassky monastery. It is located on the west side of the Transfiguration Cathedral.

The abbot building with the house church of St. Basil, Bishop of Ryazan was built in 1687 at the expense of Metropolitan Barsonuphius of Sarsk and Podonsk, at his own expense in 1691 it was built new Intercession Church. The abbot's building was a two-storey stone house, at the bottom and at the top of which there were living rooms, with stone basements and vaults.

The abbot's house, due to its dilapidation, was unoccupied for a long time, until the moment when the abbot's premises were built wooden cells, in which the abbots lived. In 1885, the old stone house was repaired: the dangerous vaults that did not give warmth in winter were brought out in new places; the walls were plastered inside; reworked windows, doors, stoves, floors. The lower floor has also been radically redesigned.

The next reconstruction was carried out after the transfer of the monastery to the Russian Orthodox Church in 1996, the new house church of the abbot's building, located in the northern wing of the second floor, was consecrated on June 22, 1996 by Archbishop of Vladimir and Suzdal Eulogius in honor of St. Basil, Bishop of Ryazan.

At present, the Rector's building is a two-story brick building. In plan it has a rectangular shape. Made in very modest architectural forms. Platbands, made of profiled bricks, are also uncomplicated.

The architectural value of the Rector's Building of the Transfiguration Monastery is that it is the only civilian building of the 17th century preserved in Murom that allows one to present the architecture of residential buildings of the wealthy class of the city.
