The eastern temple was a place of worship for Apollo, while the western temple was dedicated to Artemis. Apollo in Side was considered the personification of the Sun, and Artemis – Moon. According to Greek mythology, Apollo was a well-built golden-haired youth who always carried with him golden arrows and a silver bow. Apollo was also considered a soothsayer, god-doctor, leader, patron of roads, arts and sciences, sailors and travelers. The construction of the temple was made of white marble in the 2nd century BC. The base of the building was made in the shape of a triangle and reached 17 meters in width and – 30 meters. Initially, six rows with columns were installed at the temple, the height of which was about 9 meters. To date, only a few columns have survived, which were reinstalled after restoration.
