Dorfmuseum Moenchhof description and photos - Austria: Burgenland. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photographs and a map showing the nearest significant objects. The name in English is Dorfmuseum Moenchhof. Photo and descriptionThe Monchhof Village Museum is located in a small settlement of the same name, located in the border region of Austria on the territory of the federal state of Burgenland. The Hungarian border is 4 kilometers away. This is a picturesque open-air museum reconstructing a typical Austrian village of the early 20th century. The museum was opened in 1990. Previously, there was a real village on this site, known as Heideboden. Local residents earned their living either by certain crafts or agriculture. Now on the territory of the museum are their workers' workshops, shops and stores, utility rooms and residential buildings, which have been preserved since 1890. And the latest construction dates back to 1960. Among the buildings presented in the museum, it is worth noting a village school, a post office, a fire station, a village administration building and even a cinema, which clearly caused a great stir in the village at the time of its opening. On the territory of this village there is even a small parish church of St. Joseph, which is a modest building, painted white and stands out only by the superstructure above the main facade, which serves as a bell tower. Among the outbuildings, it is worth noting a mill and a special garage for agricultural machinery. However, it is the working workshops of local artisans that deserve special interest, which are both a store located on the ground floor and living quarters located already on the floor above. Among these buildings, a bakery and a winery have survived. We also recommend reading Church of St. Katarzyny (Kosciol sw.
