Holy Trinity Column in Austria, St. Polten Spa
Rating: 8,1/10 (900 votes)  The Holy Trinity Column is a religious monument of the city located in the center of the Town Hall Square. This magnificent statue reaches 15 meters in height. The column was created at the end of the 18th century as a token of gratitude to the supreme forces for ridding the city of fires, wars, plague and earthquakes that often broke out in the country ... The construction of the monument took about 15 years. The best sculptors, masons, painters participated in the creation of the column, but the main role in the luxurious decoration of the monument belongs to Andreas Gruber. The Holy Trinity Column was erected of white marble and decorated with statues. Sacred images and human figures were chosen as the image of victory over troubles. At the very top, golden rays of Divine glory sparkle. On the lower level of the composition are the stone sculptures of Florian, Hippolytus, Leopold and Sebastian. The relief of the monument depicts the sleeping Joseph and the Annunciation. At the foot of the column there is a small pool with fountains.
