Emancipation Park was opened in 2002 and named to commemorate the 170th anniversary of the abolition of slavery in Jamaica. Elements of African culture are present throughout the park - sculptures, benches, a fountain are decorated in this style. The park is also a botanical garden - here you can see the national plants of Jamaica. This is a favorite picnic spot for locals.
