This small fortress tower is located at the western end of the promontory between the Strait of Sicily and the Tyrrhenian Sea. The tower was built on the rocks in 1671 by the main captain of the Kingdom of Sicily, Don Claudio La Moraldo, Prince of Liny. The author of the project was Carlos de Grunemberg. The tower served as a defense against the Berber pirates who often attacked and ravaged the coastal cities of the island of Sicily. At the beginning of the 19th century, a narrow passage connecting the city with the tower was made accessible to tourists. In the second half of the 19th century, a firearm was installed on the roof of the tower, and during the Second World War, -the navy used the tower as an anti-aircraft firing position. In 1979, restoration work was carried out in the tower, after which it was opened to the general public. Since 1983, the tower houses the Museum of Prehistoric Times. In the Museum's exposition on the first floor, visitors are presented with prehistoric finds discovered on the territory of Trapani; on the second floor, there are exhibits discovered at the bottom of the sea – anchors, amphorae and various decorations from Romans, Greeks and Phoenicians.
