The O. Voronova Museum of Sami Literature and Writing was founded in 1994 under the departmental subordination of the MU Lovozero Intersettlement Library. The founder of the museum was Nadezhda Pavlovna Bolshakova, who is a writer and a member of the Union of Russian Writers. She assumed the obligations of the head of the museum.

The idea of establishing the museum belongs to the talented poet Viktor Timofeev, who was actively supported by the secretary of one of the Murmansk branches of the Writers' Union - Maslov V.S. It was this person who was able to get money to buy a three-room apartment, which after a while was intended for the premises of a museum. Initially, the museum was housed in a small room in a workers' dormitory. The opening date of the museum was May 22, 1995.

When the museum was able to place all of its exhibits in a new three-room apartment, the flow of people only increased. The total number of items belonging to the museum reached the level of 2 thousand items. Here one could see books by Sami writers and poets not only in Sami, but also in Russian, textbooks, autographs of the famous Oktyabrina Voronova and other famous Sami writers and poets, their photographs, personal belongings and much more.

The museum has three main sections. One of them is in the first room. It is dedicated to the life and work of the founder of Sami poetry - Oktyabrina Voronova. The second exposition tells in detail about the Sami writing and literature, the history of Lovozero, the life and work of writers from Murmansk. The third room contains an exhibition, dedicated to the decorative and artistic creativity of the Sami, as well as schoolchildren throughout the Murmansk region In addition, there is a collection of dolls from all the peoples of the world.

The first Sami poet Oktyabrina Voronova is not only the founder of Sami literature, but also the first woman to enter The Union of Soviet Writers from the Murmansk Writers' Organization. In addition, Oktyabrina Voronova became one of the founders of the Days dedicated to Slavic culture and writing in the city of Murmansk in 1986, as well as the Day of the Sami word, which was held in 1989 throughout the Lovozero region.

The museum presents notes of famous songs written on the verses of Sami poets, to which famous composers addressed: Vladimir Matveev, Vladimir Popov, Oleg Alistratov, Alexander Lyapin, Valentin Gurinov and many other famous people. In the second room of the museum, you can flip through special books-stands, which tell about the work of Sami poets and writers: Askold Bazhanov, Sofya Yakimovich, Olga Perepelitsa, Ekaterina Korkina and others. It is worth noting that Alexandra Andreevna Antonova was not only a poetess, but also the creator of the famous Sami primer and other textbooks available in the museum.

Copies of Sami primers dating back to 1933 and 1937 are of great interest. »1895 and some others. This section presents books by Sami writers published in their native language, as well as old records with Sami songs and numerous album books written in Sami.

In the third museum section, you can find a variety of essays by pupils of the Murmansk region school on the themes of literary and historical contests "Coast of Russia", "Temple of Russia", "Children's manuscript book".

In the fall of 2003, the museum received a gift in the form of a collection of dolls dressed in costumes of the peoples of the world from Julia Larina. This collection is also included in the collection of the museum and has been significantly replenished over the years. All dolls are accompanied by a book-album, which contains materials on museums of dolls that exist not only in Russia, but also abroad.

The museum also has a real old gramophone that plays records. Here you can see an old samovar on melting coals, an old iron, a set of tusks, an old large chest and many other fascinating things.

Every year the museum is visited by about 2 thousand people who come not only from various cities of Russia, but also from abroad: Finland, USA, Germany, Ukraine, Norway and many other countries.
