Photo and descriptionThe Historical and Archaeological Museum in Temryuk is one of the first museums not only in the city, but throughout the Krasnodar Territory. The museum was founded in 1920 thanks to the initiative of local teachers under the guidance of a self-taught scientist, ethnographer and explorer of the Taman Peninsula S.F. Voitsekhovsky. Initially, the museum was called Pedagogical, but in 1924 it was renamed Local History. Already in the early 30s. in the museum funds, there were about 15 thousand exhibits. The richest were the archaeological collection and the collection of paintings. The Temryuk Historical and Archaeological Museum suffered greatly in 1942-1943. during the occupation of the city. The German fascist invaders plundered museum collections, burned down the library and the entire scientific archive. But despite this, the residents of the city managed to save several exhibits in their homes. And as soon as the city was liberated, the rapid restoration of the museum began. In May 1945 it opened its doors to visitors. The documentary fund, the library was gradually restored, the collections were replenished. In the 60s. the opening of the hall of the history of the Kuban Cossacks and nature took place in the museum, and already in the early 80s. re-exposition of all museum halls was carried out. In 1983, the museum was given one of the oldest buildings in the city - a former pharmacy, built at the end of the 19th century. It is located in this building to this day. Currently, the funds of the Historical and Archaeological Museum have about 20 thousand exhibits. The most interesting collection, according to visitors, is a collection of archeology (red-lacquered and black-lacquered ceramics, terracotta figurines, gravestone steles). Museum expositions are located in four halls: the first hall is dedicated to the history of the Bosporus kingdom; the second - the history of the settlement of the Kuban and Taman by the Black Sea Cossacks; the third room will tell about the times of the Great Patriotic War on the territory of Taman, and the fourth - about the nature of Taman, a wide variety of its flora and fauna.
