La Serena Japanese Park is an amazing theme park located on an area of 26,000 square meters. and is the largest Japanese garden in South America. In his collection you can see the plants and animals of the delightful land of the rising sun.

La Serena Japanese Park was built with the participation of several mining and processing companies in Chile and Japan, mainly Compa & ntilde í a Minera del Pac í fico " (Chilean Mining Company) and Nippon Steel Corporation (Japanese steel company). The creation of a park with a typical Japanese landscape was one of the agreements of a friendly agreement between the sister cities of La Serena and the Japanese city of Tenri in 1966.

The Japanese park was officially opened on August 26, 1994 as part of the celebration of the 450th anniversary of the founding of the city of La Serena.

The park, designed by the landscape designer Akira Ohiro, is located in the center of La Serena near the ocean coast, opposite the park of Pedro de Valdivia. Several attractions can be seen in the park, including Japanese sakura, bamboo lattice fences, rock garden, artificial lagoons and a traditional Japanese bridge. Also, various species of ducks, swans live here, and goldfish swim in the pond. Islands, lagoons, cascading waterfalls and small forests of the park are connected by sophisticated artificial paths with gazebos, pagodas and bridges with elements of Japanese decor.
