Ferdinandeum is the Tyrolean national museum. Its founder is Count Karl Hotka (1823 - the date of foundation), the museum got its name in honor of Emperor Ferdinand.   Initially, the museum was created as a local history museum, but almost immediately after its creation, works of art that were donated by collectors or acquired by the museum itself began to accumulate here. At present, the art collections of Ferdinandeum are considered the richest in Austria.
