Basilica della College in Italy, resort of Sicily
Rating: 8,7/10 (922 votes)  The Basilica della College is a Sicilian Baroque church in Catania. The construction of the church began in 1693 and was completed only in 1768. The author of the project was Angelo Italia. The facade was made by the architect Stefano Ittar. The temple has two orders. The lower order consists of six stone columns crowned with a balustrade, the upper order has a huge central window, which is flanked by four statues of Saints Paul, Peter, Apollonius and Agatha. The interior of the church consists of from the central nave, two side chapels and three apses. In the central apse is the parish priest's house. In the left side-altar there is the Chapel of the Holy Gifts, in the right - – font and three altars, decorated with images of saints. The main altar of the church is decorated with a marble statue of the Madonna and a marble balustrade. One of the main attractions of the Basilica – the icon of the Virgin Mary with the Child, the organ of the 18th century also deserves attention.
