The beautiful Greek island of Rhodes is famous for its history and an abundance of interesting sights. Every year a huge number of tourists from all over the world come here.

One of the main attractions of Rhodes is the Church of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos, located in the capital of the island of the same name. The magnificent Orthodox church is located in the immediate vicinity of the city harbor and is made in the Gothic style. The church was built in 1925 during the domination of the Italians on the island (however, many of the city's buildings date back to this period). The architectural prototype of this building was the Church of St. John, which was located in the Old City next to the Palace of the Grand Masters and was built in the 14th century by knights in honor of their patron Saint John. Unfortunately, in the 19th century, the once majestic temple was destroyed and only ruins have survived to this day.

Despite the somewhat ascetic exterior of the temple, the interior decoration and decoration amaze with their magnificence. The walls of the church are decorated with beautiful frescoes by the famous Greek painter Fotis Kondoglu.
