Photo and descriptionThe Santa Clara Monastery was founded in 1644 by nuns from the Colombian city of Cartagena. It is considered one of the oldest religious buildings in Havana. Its original purpose was to teach poor girls in this building. A charity hospital is also located here. Then, later, the Ministry of Public Works was located here, which worked until 1982. After that, the monastery was returned to its historical status and former greatness. Tourists come here to enjoy the unique architectural style, the quiet courtyards of the monastery, and the magnificent interior of the numerous galleries.
